Hi guys, looking to upgrade my 1.8 as I dnt find it fast enough, 120 bhp
what do you guys sugest, the 2.2 dti is 125 bhp but would a remap make it faster than the 2.2 petrol? and if I remapped the 143 bhp 2.2 what would that achieve.
cheers
Danny

I have a boxed 2.2dti with 155BHP, i think it would be very capable of keeping up with a standard 2.2.
Even as standard a 2.2dti is a fair bit quicker than a 1.8 petrol. Vx stated it as having 125 bhp but most have upwards of 135BHP
What about the 2.0t? petrol
mines about 200bhp remapped and its only group 12 insurance really reliable engine, and my last vec was a 2.2 non direct,i will not start on that as i will be here all night i found it ****e 90,000 piston rings went burning a litre of oil every couple of days and then dropped to 3 cylinders then died,im not saying there all like that but i would not have another 2.2 petrol
my current is 2.0 turbo petrol
turbo bit outa my price range on car and insurance, so deisel the better option?? 150+ is enough, I dnt wana race anyone , just want that extra ummph to get outa trouble.
The DTI will have alot more torque, and as John says, alot of 'em are above 135BHP! But to be honest, I think the 2.2 petrol won't be the "fast" you're looking for mate! I'd say go for the 2.0t!
group 12?? Hmm that's sounds intersting, but I do 80 miles a day so deisel will save me pennys, wat mpg u get on a turbo??
But the Dti is only a group 8, and it'll do 50 to the gallon on a long trip
Oh and the tax is only 155 note a year too
35 mpg on my remapped one
