Ran out of Diesel....

The better half's just rung me and evidently shes ran out of diesel,just down the bottom of the street,now bearing in mind its a 2.0dti,what the frig do i do to bleed the system,we have rac cover but if you brake down less than a mile from home apparantly they are not duty bound to attend..

Ideas chaps please.

TOW IT in 2nd gear - 100 yards should be going again. I've had to after leaving mine parked uphill,

Cranking it over won't bleed through quick enough.

done iy few times hehe in my 1.9cdti had 2 walk 3 miles to a garage... 1h hour there and back... but was nice and suny

I had to do the same when i parked uphill when low on diesel.

you could fill up filter housing first to help it pull threw

Got it going eventually,poured some diesel into fuel filter canister screwed back on,and just kept turning engine with quick bursts,after about 20 mins of doing this she fired up,so all seems well now....Hoping that the pump not knackered though...
