    Default heater motor has stopped.

i have a vectra elite 54 reg 1.9cdti. over the last few days the heater motor has been erratic, but has now stopped altogether. i have had the fuses checked, they are fine. there is also clicking sound coming from the glove box area. any ideas?

hi. heater motors are common problem.normally due to water getting in to them through the pollen filter.because the drain is blocked up.so you need to look at that first. their are plenty of threads on here to help.

Have you tried it on setting number 4? if it works then it will be the therma fuse, 69p from maplins if not maybe a relay.

There are 2 relays above the glovebox. One switches on when switching to blower position 1 and stays on up to position 3, the other relay activates at switch position 4 only.

This is for standard A/C with manual blower 0 - 4 speeds.

We have taken out the regulator (we don't have a resistor as our car has climate control) and it smells of burning. Checked inside and looks burnt out. The heater/blower was not working at all not even 1-4, so could it be the motor, or just the regulator?

I would try simply attaching 12+ across the blower motor and seeing if it works. That will tell you if the blower is defective, or the regulator.
