    Default rough idle

I sometimes get a very rough idle, well I don't but my car does. I cant say if its after its been pushed a bit or not. It doesn't happen very often so difficult too find. No management light comes on. Dealer couldnt find it, but that doesn't mean a great deal.
If I turn off ignition and restart it is fine. By the way I have a 2008 1.9 cdti 120.
    Any advice?

Mine does the same and it's a 57 plate 150 cdti.

From cold it's fine but after driving and then idling it's a bit rough too. I don't think it was like that when I first got the car but I'm not too sure!

Someone told me it's the auto choke that kicks in causing the idle to be high (and less rough) and then when the engine is warmed up the choke isn't there (or rather opens fully) and the idle is lower (and more rough).

Was going to take mine to dealer too but don't know if they will find a fault or not like with you!

Rough idle can be sticking EGR valve. Sometimes it sticks, sometimes it doesn't and sometimes it sticks further open than usual, but never enough to put a warning light on. That would be my bet for a "sometimes" erratic idle.

The EGR valve controls the flow of exhaust gas in the combustion process. If the valve is open when it shouldn't be or further than it should be, you'll get a weak mixture and a rough idle.

You could try using the Fiat EGR exhaust gas restrictor gaskets (about £5 from Fiat dealer) together with a good cleaning of the Valve.
