    Default Vectra VXR Vs 1.9CDTI

No as fast and it uses twice as much fuel! After getting straight out of mine into A 2.8T VXR then back into mine, there is no doubt that mine accelerates faster. Only the higher RPM range gives the VXR an edge.

Having said that, I was suprised how much low down torque the twin turbo provided in a petrol. Also the sixth gear was not vastly different in size to the CDTI's, about 2200rpm for 70mph where as the cdti does 70 at a little over 200rpm less.

It felt nice and pulled reasonably but the noise was apauling! It gave me a head ache in minutes, you could even hear it at rest throbing slightly.

Deffinatly not swaping to petrol if that's the best VX have (Did look at the Monaro but managed to slap myself back in line).

Yeah, it probably will get a bit like that but I've driven the VXR and it anint got the kick! And boy did I kick it but it couldn't diliver.

I was disapointed, though it might tempt me but now I'm more set on getting more out of mine...

Would disagree with that tbh, having had both the 1,9 150ps and the VXR out alongside each other the VXR left the 1.9 behind. The VXR has a constant smooth power delivery compared to the lag then boost that the 1,9CDTi;s have. The noise from the exhausts is a bit loud at times though and not to everyones taste.

Had a feeling a VXR owner might be along to say something!

Nutron -what planet are you on m8? A 1.9CDTi (albeit with a remap) and a box whacked on top for good measure, being quicker than a 2.8T VXR!! - and that's with your slipping clutch as well!!

Yours 'may' have a larger initial jolt due to the torque of the diesel, but the VXR delivers it's power in a smoother way so may 'feel' slower - but it certainly aint!!

Can't believe I even took the time to reply in this thread!!
