Default SMD's or LED's for lighting...

Which would be better or brighter for footwells and theboot etc, maybe even exterior...

Seen some SMD strips that look pretty neat and flat (sticky backed etc) but not sure how bright they would be...

    Cheers...

One led provides less light than a bulb, but most foot-well lighting mods have several LED's in, which provide loads of lighting...especialy if you go for the white LED's.

Coloured LED's are nowhere near as bright as the white ones.

Note also...normal bulbs have a slightly yellowy tint, purely because of the materials used to make them (tungsten fillament).

SMD's are just a differently constructed / format of LED.

SMD is merely a surface mounted Diode
LED is a light emitting Diode...so best thing to check is the MCD or Lux rating...the higher the value, the brighter the light.

also you can go for a 2 colour led and power them with a special switch with reverses its polarity feed which would then change them to their 2nd colour
Plasma's Tech2 services are now partially open and able to provide services

Thanks for the Schooling lads, but i only needed to know if SMD's would be bright enough all my other cars have been like christmas tree's, but only ever used SMD's for smaller spaces like exterior handles etc... not boots and footwells

Just trying to figure out how close to something they'd need to be to for it to glow up? if i make sense... footwells are what, 40cm high roughly?

Or there's this type, i'd gather brighter (cant see by loads) but wont hide as neatly...
