Default Emmisions Light, bubbles in expansion tank

Hi guys looking for some advice, the emmisions light on my 53 plate 2.2sri came on today, anyway got home and pooped the bonnet and to my horror i could see bubbles in the expansion tank, I have no loss of coolant, but my exhaust is a bit smokey when idling, white smoke.
No loss of power that I can distinguish yet, any ideas, I hope its not the cylinder head gasket, the only other thing I can say is that there was an advisory on the last MOT re the exhaust system brackets being badly rusted and the rear box outer skin has fallen off recently.
Is there any way of resetting the emmisions light at all?

That can be quite normal with long trips
You really need to examine the cooling system with the engine cold
You can then remove the cap, start the engine (but only run it for a short time with the cap off), and see if the system still generates bubbles; if it does then there is an issue
If possible try and run the engine so that the thermostat opens and the radiator fan comes on
