    Default Battery discharging overnight

    Has anyone solved this problem?

I have read lots of threads from people with the same problem and lots of advice on how to find a current drain, but no-one seems to come back and say if or how they fixed the problem.

For anyone who has not read these threads we are having trouble with the battery discharging overnight. We have had a new alternator and a new battery but problem remains.

The local auto-electician says there is no drain but still the battery is flat every morning.

I had this on my BMW 320D. As you have put the alternator could be a problem but you've changed that. Have you put a multimeter in line with the power lead and measured the current being drawn when its off. On the BMW they go into sleep mode after about 10mins. Don't know if Vx's are the same. Might be worth a go.

Just a thought. I had a problem with my boot not quite closing properly. It left the interior light on. I only noticed it briefly once when driving at night down a road without street lights !

of course it did show a boot open signal on the dash as well but this used to disappear after pulling away.

i had trouble a few weeks ago my battery was going flat overnight. I had all the checks done and all showed normal. I decided to bite the bullet and put a brand new battery on, it has been great ever since.

Can you borrow a good battery just to see if it starts the next morning, that way you will know if its your battery thats giving you this problem.

    HTH

    regards

    Steve.
