Default Good News and Bad News!

First the good news ! I eventually got around to replacing the Thermostat on my GSI yesterday. Whilst the plenum was off I also replaced the spark plugs with Denso Iridiums, replaced a leaky front bank cambox cover gasket, and cleaned the throttle body and engine vent housing outlets. I also fitted a K&N Filter, changed the oil and fitted an oil catch tank. Very happy with all that!

Now the bad news ! All is running well apart from now the emission control light has suddenly come on (permanently lit not flashing). I have read the code and it is P0700 which is a Transmission Control Module Malfunction. No idea why - I didn’t touch the gears whilst the repairs were being done and it was fine beforehand. The car drives as perfectly as ever no limp mode gears etc, the fluid level is fine and not contaminated (separate oil cooler fitted). I've checked and double checked everyting I removed (hoses and connections etc and all appears fine). The only thing I can think of is I did spill some coolant around the top of the transmission when working on it. It’s an AF33 transmission – does anyone have any ideas. 'cause I'm stumped ?????

Had the same fault on mine, but think its just a loose conection or dodgy sensor cos it comes and goes as it pleases, lasted just 3 days this last time.
Probs get it checked at next service.(unless something more serious ocurs)

I'm hoping it will disappear just a bit worried about damage that may be occuring! Do you happen to know why the emission control light comes on then it reads a Transmission module fault?
