rear number plate lights staying on.

Evening all,
My mate has 04 plate 120 cdti (LS) hatch,his number plate lights keep staying on and i suspect it could be a faulty boot open sensor,would this make sense?

And also he has the codes read and the word squib was displayed (not sure of number),and clues as to the what the origin might be?

mine does this and it gets a pain when for two hours after I start work everybody telling me my lights are on in the carpark....

They go off after a while..

yes could be the boot

had this when my boot was not shut, played up for a couple of days then stopped, maybe something got stuck in the catch then cleared.

It could be the boot. Mine did it and i slammed the boot hard a few times. Its not done it since and that was about a year ago.
