    Default some probs cooling system

i just bought a sri 120 05 44000 miles, but haveing probs, the temp hand will not rise at all, so i got a new thermostat, not fitted yet but when i was looking at the expansion bottle i notcied the mixture was very weak hardley no antifreeze in at all would this affect the tem gauge, if i have to fit the thermostat i will be changing the coolant, very strange that all this cold weather and very little antifreeze in the bottle.

could be faulty temp sender usually located within the stat, unsure on cdti.

alot of people just top up their bottle with just water and over time becomes really weak, although this wouldn't stop your temp gauge moving.

the only thing thats worrying me is why the mixture is so weak something must have happened to cause this.

You just bought it? I expect the last owner just cut a few corners, you may never find out why.

    HI.

I've just recently bought a CDTI 120 (54 plate) where the temperature gauge hardly moves of cold at all even after half an hours driving. Heating seems fine to me as well as overall performance.

hey, i have a 55 plate CDTI 120 Design. Had the same issue, temp gauge needle never moved off cold and it took ages ages for the heater to get warm, changed the stat, pig of a job on the 120, allow yourself a couple of hours, gauge now reads about 85 and heater toasty. New stat and two litres of antifreeze in the coolant, should see ya right.
