    Default Rear pads

Hi all, just changed my rear pads which went fine but
have noticed my handbrake seems to need pulling up
higher to get it to work ! i would of thought it should
operate with less pulling ! ! if you see my logic ! do i
    need to adjust anything ?
    cheers
    Kcs

think the handbrake is self adjusting by holding brake pedal and pumping handbrake, sure i heard this but will probably be wrong..

    Correct nokia.

When I changed my pads I had to pump the brake a whole lot. Then pull the hand brake until it feels like it used to. IT WILL re-engage.

    Bleeding the brakes will help.

the advice i found on here was, once youve changed the rear pads, DO NOT depress the brake pedal before applying the handbrake a few times after youve lowered it off the jacks.

the handbrake MUST be applied several times as this adjusts the mechanism. if you use the brake pedal before doing this it can hamper the automatic adjustment.

the above worked for me, but i stand to be corrected on the method.

It will sort itself out, it adjusts itself. Mine was exactly the same, now 3 clicks and holding perfectly.

THIS IS CORRECT!!, the hand brake should be applied repeatedly 'before' the foot brake! , hold the button in & work up & down as many times as you wish this will adjust the handbrake mechanism then use as normal this is the right way & will reduce/eliminate damage.
