    Default 2.2 dti

HI I have a 2.2 dti elegance auto, the temperature gauge takes about an hour of driving to move at all, the heater warms up quite fast, once the gauge has moved up after about one hour it seems to stay there, when I go on any short trips it stays right at the bottom and does not move although the heater still gets warm. Any ideas or advice gratefully received

The two 2.2 DTi's in our household are similar. They take a fair while for the temp gauge to move.

One is a 53 plate with roughly 83k miles covered, the other is an 03 plate with 126k miles covered.

I have a 2.2 dti elegance manual 53 plate & mine takes a good while to move as well. Just the nature of the car.

    Hi Patch
taking an hour is not normal it sounds like you have a faulty sender unit,as the lads say diesels take a little longer to warm but not that much.gauge should be on the move within 2 or 3 miles.

    Vehicle : Opel Signum

    Trim : Sport

    Engine : 3.0 CDTI

    Year : 12/03

If the thermostat is OK the DTi will warm up quite quickly. As said 2-3miles should make the guage move a bit and it should be up to operating temperature in 10 miles or so.
