Default Fuel pressure pump - 2.2Direct

Hi there, new to the forum

I have a problem with my 56plate 2.2 Direct SRI mis-firing. I have had it diagnosed as 'Cylinder 1 mis-fire, Fuel pressure pump circuit high input'
I cant remember what the actual codes were, but was told it was likely to be either the Fuel pressure regulator, or indeed the Fuel pressure pump.

I looked though this forum and found that this seems to be a common problem with my engine.

I decided to replace the regulator today, before I blew £350+ on the pump... Unfortunately did not cure the problem. My engine light is on and it has been mis-firing most of the time for the last couple of days - however this morning on my 5 min drive to work it behaved itself!!

Has anyone had similar problems to this that might be able to help me?
I am planning on changing the plugs tomorrow (as they need doing anyway) and looking at the coil pack, in the hope that I might find a problem here......

If anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated!
    Many thanks.

Yeah will do, thanks! Gonna change all filters and service it! Is it worth doing that before i buy a new pump? I know its probably inevitable that its faulty, but no harm in trying other areas I suppose!

    Ok, update....

Removed coil pack and it was quite obvious that there was a build up of dirt/damp on numbers 1&2. When i removed the spark plugs, again numbers 1&2 were very black and dirty.

Changed the plugs, and cleaned up the rubbers on the coil pack and its running spot on again . The EM light has also now gone off.. result!!

It looks as though the engine was pressure washed before I purchased it, and water has collected and ran down to 2 of the plugs, causing a fault with them.

Yesterday I had changed the Fuel pressure regulator but this wasn't the problem - I have therefore got one spare, in full working order if anyone needs one, PM me!

    Thanks for your help

Just keep an eye on the plug recesses, its not uncommon for the Ally heads to crack and for coolant to flow into the recess.
