Default anybody had and problems with Halfords professional range

of tools.....there ment to have a life time guarantee????
i bought some professional ratchet spanners last summer and one of the ratchet's has gone dodgy, so i tryed to take it back this morning with no joy
first of all i couldn't find the receipt which turned out not to be that bigger issue as the manager was ok about it, but he told me that ratchet spanners are not covered by the life time guarantee ?? so he wouldn't exchange it for another one. now me personally I've not seen anything in writing about this said technicality???
can anybody shed any light on this

The Lifetime Guarantee for Halfords Professional Tools covers damage to metal parts during intended use due to manufacturer fault. Moving parts such as ratchet mechanisms are not covered but the metal part of the tool is. - Staff Answer

I would say though that you should be able to get a replacement under the Sales of Goods Act as if its lasted less than a year it would be unfit for its purpose imo.

Only the moving parts as big knox said are covered. Its a crap cover really

I ended up buying another and then a month later taking it back for a replacement.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

.. so long as the OP hasn't mis-used the ratchet, causing the fault/damage to the mechanism.

    How would Halfords know?

I got told by my mate who works there that they have a lifetime guarantee and should be replaced as they are made by snap-on and rebranded

I think you were fobbed off as all the pro / advanced range have a lifetime guarantee so you are entitled to a new one

some searching on google and all forums seem to be saying this...

well i work at halfords and there is POS that clearly states that the lifetime guarantee does not cover ratchets and moving mechanism parts. Also, even though it has "halfords proffesional" stamped on the tools, a receipt is required if you want to exchange. I think this is due to some people buying tools, be them fine or broken, from carboots/markets etc. then going into halfords and swapping them over.
