Default Dont Blame your GPS, it's probably okay

Came across this snippit of info recently regarding the solar activity affecting GPS signals. It seems rising Solar Activity WILL disrupt GPS systems.

The BBC posted a worrying, albeit interesting, news item on Wednesday concerning an increase in solar activity.

Researchers warned that as the Sun awakens from a period of inactivity a likely side-affect will be wide spread disruption of GPS signals.
The exact effects that may be experienced are not fully known as the last time the Sun exhibited a similar rise in activity predate the widespread use of GPS.

Solar flares occur frequently and activity rises and falls in a predictable pattern. Flares spread radiation across a wide range of the electromagnetic spectrum but are particularly troublesome to signals at frequencies used by GPS.
Satellites are designed to cope with this radiation but forecasts predict levels well above those previously experienced. The affects may manifest themselves in unreliable positioning or a complete failure to acquire a satellite lock. The peak activity is not expected for a couple of years so may get worse.

yup probably the same scientists who said half of us would be dead by now thanks to Swine Flu, the world would have disolved by now thanks to Acid Rain, the world was going to burn in Nuclear fall out, we'd all be drowned thanks to the melting ice caps, we'd all freeze to death in the next Ice Age, the world was going to end because of the millenium bug.

In other words, I'll believe it when I see it.

We can't even predict the weather for tomorrow most of the time, doesn't fill me with confidence they can predict how the planet will be in 20 years or more time!
