    Default Service time

Its nearly time for my first service on my 3.2 auto and was wondering if anyone can suggest a decent garage in the newport (south wales) area and also what i should be looking at getting done? its a 2004 plate but only has 24,000 miles on it. It has got a service history with it but nothing in the book has been ticked so i have no idea what's been done Would you guys recommend a full service, gear box oil etc or just a smaller oil/filter change and do a major next year?

    cheers!

2004 and it's on its first service, eeek!

Unless you have receipts for the previous services, then I would assume it has never been serviced

Let's assume it is a 6 years service
    Oil
    Oil filter
    Air Filter (every 4 years)
    Pollen Filter
    Fuel Filter (every 4 years)
    Brake Fluid (every 2 years)
    Cambelt (every 4 years)

Personally, I would have all of the above done, but ask for the cambelt to be inspected
With such a low mileage it should last to 40K miles which is the normal replacement interval

In effect that would be a full service, including the air filter, fuel filter and brake fluid renewal, so you are looking at between £180 and £250

I've not taken the Auto Transmission renewal (point 21) into account
Again, this is a 4 years interval
I don't operate vehicles with Auto, so you would need to add that to any quote you get

Phone at least two garages for quotes
Firstly, ask what they will do, based on the age and mileage (they should list the above, don't prompt them)
If one garage gives a more correct and comprehensive answer, then go with them, even if it does appear slightly more expensive (experience and knowledge is everything!)

    Hi guys
Just to let everyone know i finally had my service done yesterday by a local independent who are also good mates of mine and happen to do a lot of vauxhalls as well :-)
Had a full service and mot as not sure what had been previously done: oil, filter, air filter, spark plugs and fuel filter as well as all the usual checks. Car flew through mot with no failures-replaced one indicator bulb as starting to go white and need a few tyres in a couple of months-everything else mint! phewwwwwwww!! Cars running much smoother with slightly more power which is at least an added bonus :-)
Can really recommend these guys if anyone in newport/south wales are looking for some good service. They're not the cheapest but very good! pm me if you want the details.
