Nah, they don't really help with mpg in my experience. Maybe just slightly better mpg if you leave it in 6th gear as much as you can, but in reality you'll boot it more as you get used to the power. Boot it a lot, and the fuel economy will be a bit worse than standard.
More power = more fuel , no two ways about it.

I fitted one to my Audi A4 1.9tdi and whilst I noticed an increase in performance the mpg did drop, then I got a remap and performance was even better but mpg dropped by about 10mpg

It seems like they are hit and miss everyone has a different view on them, but most can be adjusted to suit your needs but bottom line more bhp= less mpg

DTUK CDR2 1.9cdti 150, doest make mpg any better, i found when on motorway doing distance at say 70mph its eg same as before hand, but driving round town with a quite a heavy foot it goes down quite abit but its worth it the diffrence in power and response is quite some.

They will mess up your computer mpg reading
If you drive in exactly the same style they will improve mpg slightly as you can change up sooner. But The whole point is to drive quicker so in that case no theywot improve your mpg. The more black smoke the worse your mpg Simples :-)

Tried one on my old Vectra, the trip computer showed an increase in mpg of about +6mpg but I lost about 50 miles per tank,

that was even driving it like Miss Daisy, took it off and never fitted another even when I changed my car,

Remap is better I'm told but you still have to watch the quality of the map as some companies are worst on mpg than others,
