    Default 1.9 cdti swirl valves.

    hi to all,

i'm new to the sit and could do with some help.

i've got a 2005 1.9 cdti 150bhp with the normal swirl valve problems , the valves are all free moving and the actuator that controls the valves seems to work fine. the only problem is at the momment the link bar keeps falling off as the cups on the bar that fit over the valves are badly worn, i've been to vx and i can't buy just the bar i have to buy the hole manifold at a cost of £225 which i dont really want to do. i.ve heard there is a £1 fix that can be done, can anyone tell me where to get the info on this fix and if it works or not.

    cheers.

    any help would be great.

    Welcome.

There is a how2 for the cheap fix here... (you may need to be a full member to see it though)... see here for the membership details.

This cheap fix more often doesn't work than does (but I suppose is well worth a go), and requires a new inlet manifold to fix at about £600 fitted at VX (as they don't seem to replace the actuator) or about £800 all in with this changed also.

It might help your cause if you were ask your question in the appropriate forum.

"Swirl valve problems" would be best asked in the "troubleshooting - engine & drivechain" section, not the "introduce yourself" section.

The clue is in the title

EDIT - I see it's now been moved.

£225 doesn't seem bad for fixing the inlet manifold, I thought it was mega-bucks usually? or is that just the part with no labour?

That'll be part only, and an expensive one at that, they tend be around £160 for the manifold only.

    hi,

results where negative on swirl valves, this mod stopped the valves from opening at all.

    back to the drawing board.

£225 was part only from vx.

where did the quote for £160 come from.

thanks big dave, as i said new to the site yesterday, but i will keep that in mind next time i ask for help.

    cheers
