    Default Rear discs and pads

Hi guy's, i was changing my rear arb bushes and drop links and noticed my rear pads were getting very low, i priced up genuine sets comming in at approx £80-85 depending where you go. But after a search on ebay i see sets comming in at approx £40 assuming they do deliver to Shetland
    like this set

May i have your opinions please on what you think of after market disc's and pads, would they be as good as genuine. The reason i ask is, due to other commitments bills are racking up and i have to be careful at the moment, the fact my house boiler has packed up is seriously not helping and the £40 saving could come in handy for other parts considering my MOT is due shortly,
    Thanks guy's

For the same price that you've bought the pads from Vauxhall, they also sell a pad and disk kit - 2 disks and 4 pads.

Hi jezzy, sorry, i wasn't very clear in my first post, i meant the £80-85 price was the disc and pad set, not just the pads how ever the ebay sets are half the price including delivery.

IMO, you know where you stand with VX brake parts. Years ago I put some cheap discs and pads on a Citroen but after some not too sprited driving on country lanes, smoke stared to come from the n/s disc. The disc overheated and turned blue and was basically scrap.

Decent pads and discs from "reputable" manufacturers could be a life saver when you need them most.

    As they say, "buyer beware".

Just my opinion though and I'm sure many will disagree.

Autovaux have them slightly cheaper than that and will either be genuine VX, or meets OEM.

Euro car parts sold me a set of Pagid rear pads today for 9.11 + the vodka. Pagid are OE equipment and work very well. Disks are 18+ each. Good quality, give them a go if you have a branch near by.

What exactly is the difference, in normal road use?
The only issue I have had is with the OE rear pads and discs, the first set never lasts long enough, but the replacements wear much better (almost three times as long)

I had my fingers burnt with a "cheap" set of front pads from Kwik Fit once, but I was watching them during fitting
The OE pads typically lasted 40K miles, these ones lasted just 10K miles
Kwik Fit (at the time was offering "lifetime guarantee") offered to fit replacements for free, but I argued why should I have to revisit for new pads every 3 months when they should last 12 months
They eventually agreed to refit OE pads, but advised they would cancel my agreement and they would not be replaced when worn out
