I got mine alligned a couple of weeks ago, on lmy Opel garage, with a brand new laser/mirror-thing. The mecanic told me it was hardly out of spec (except that I had to change a inner steering joint), and he adjusted it to best fit the kind of roads we have here, still within spec (not sure what he did, but I trust this guy). And what a difference! Here I live its mainly bendy roads, and asphalt with very bad quality, so only a few PSI to little pressure in one of tyres is noticable. Even with my very soft rubber winter tyres, the car sits alot better in the bends, the understeering is 99% gone. But he missed to allign the steering wheel completely. Now its "five minutes past" when I drive straight forward (not much, but noticeable), so I have to get back to him. The headlights and ESP is depending on steering position, so...
The "Alignmycar" web site DOESN'T give a list of their agents - all it does it give you a list of garages where they've sold Hunter equipment to. It's in the small print at the botton of one of the site pages.
I fell foul to this about a year ago as some of the garages with Hunter equipment were operated by complete muppets who didn't have a clue about alignment and geometry. Just because they've got Hunter equipment doesn't mean to say they're any good.
There's also a big difference bewteen alignment and global geometry set-ups. http://www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk/tec...ignsystems.php.
I guess for £35 you get what you pay for and no way is this the price for a full global geometry set-up.
Whilst doing my ARB's at the weekend I noticed both fronts and rears were heavily worn on the inner edges, so am having 4 new tyres on Wednesday then a short drive to have the laser alignment done
I couldn't believe the tyres have only lasted about 12k, so I went to my local VX dealer and complained - they weren't interested at all.
