    Default Alarm......

Hi everyone, I just bought a late 2003 (53) 2.2 petrol SRI Vectra and so far it has been a brilliant car (of the 1 month i've owned it), my questions are :
Is it possible to manually activate the alarm without breaking into it!? I've tried double locking with windows down, but after 10 secs or so the interior alarm light flashes slowly i.e 1 flash per 2 seconds and the windows go up by themselves so if im trying the interior sensors the car tries cutting me in half for leaning into the car via the window if you get what im saying lol

And finally I have factory HID fitted, how easy is it to revert to standard bulbs, im not too keen on these 'sparkely' bulbs as I need to shell out for a new bulb and vauxhall quoted me £56.60 for a new D2S buld (no chance)

    Thankyou in advance
    John

    Re: alarm.

Open bonnet and hold down pin switch until alarm is set, then take finger off pin switch.

    or

Sit in car, take keys from ignition, then press the fob button, wait for alarm to set then wave hands in front of movement sensors.

Strange that your windows self close when you've locked the car. Has someone fitted a total closure system? Mind you, they should open again if they detect that an obstruction is in the way - a safety device to stop kids getting their fingers chopped off.

Re: HID bulb. You can buy them cheaper from ebay.

if u have factory HID then i wouldn't bother taking them off, you'll regret it. as they are much better than the standard crap i have. also, if u look, everyone on the forum is converting to aftermarket HID kits, consider urself lucky mate. as regards to bulbs, just shop around eBay, Halfords, GooGle etc...

Thanks guys, alarm went off, albeit I had to look at my indicators flashing to realise it was my car, it sounds like a car alarm going off on a car streets away, so queit Gutted!!!

As for the lights, wow you guys really must like HID, and thanks for the pointer to ebay, got a pair of philips 6000k as they were the cheapest branded I could find, i'm a happy chappy again

If the sounder is too quiet, try disconnecting it in the boot...
The car should use the main horn(s) located near the head-lights...much louder

On some cars though, it will throw a fault message upon the dash..on others it won't.

Give it a try and see....there are other posts and a how 2 on this subject on the forum.
