tyres & tie rods

Hi

I have a 2.2Dti.

It has always benn fitted with 215 55 16H tyres. The time has come to fit two new ones to the front.

Would it be alright to change to 205 55 16H as these are a lot cheaper?
The owners manual and Haynes manual suggest that you can, but, TIS does not list them.

If fitted how would it affect the speedo indication?

On a second point, how much would I expect to pay to have new inner track rods fitted?-labour only, me supplying the parts.
