    Default Steering Wheel Controls

    Hi Everyone,

Brand new on the site and hoping someone can give me an idea how to remove the tatty covers around my steering wheel controls. I have seen these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VECTRA-C-SIGNU...QQcmdZViewItem on Ebay but fancy doing the same myself without the LEDS. I would be really grateful for any help

    Cheers

    Hi

    Firstly, welcome to the site!

To remove the controls, look on the back of the steering wheel directly behind where the controls are. You'll see a recessed hole which has a Torx screw going into the controls. Remove this and you then just gently prise the control module out. You then disconnect the cable from the back of them and that's it. You'll see that the buttons and surround are all one unit.

No probs. Let me know if you need any more help/info.

BTW, if you decide against the 'carbonising' of the controls and just want them looking new again, you can just buy new modules. They're not as expensive as you may think (about £20 each) and that's for the whole module.

you can also put black or chrome viynl on them
why do vauxhall still use that poor quality paint on high wear plastic items
surely coloured plastic would look almost as good and last a good deal longer
