The gap around the butterfly controls the idle, if it gets dirty it can affect the idle.

The EGR is this, mines blanked but its still bolted to one side.

EGR is just 2 bolts and a plug, tbh they dont really get that bad on the 2.2 petrol. Mines only blanked as I was going to change the manifold but ended keeping it standard.

ah ta I am thinking of changing it for a 2.0 SC TB and a 2.4 Manifold...just wondering would it need mapping to run smooth or would it still run well without a map?

Its the 2.4 manifold I have in my cellar. I never fitted it because I didn't want to lose torque which is what will happen unless you upgrade the zorst manifold as well, and with that on a C you also need a sports cat and custom down pipe as the Vec C's Cat is built into the stock manifold. The 2.0SC TB needs modifications to the loom and also a custom mounting plate. Courtenay and TMS do a map just for the 2.4 manifold and yes it would really need a map to get the best out of it.
