    Default White Smoke From Engine

    Another fault with my Vectra.

I would say 2-3 times a month now the engine decides to smoke. It's white smoke and smell like oil/diesel which rises from the engine bay. Today it happened when my wife nipped out to the shop but drove OK on the way home. The car runs fine otherwise, no smoke from exhaust and has been recently serviced. As it's only happening now and again, I can't get out and see exactly where it's coming from. Anyone give me advise on what to check or has experienced this too? Oh, and it's not my wife's driving!

Crank case vent to atmosphere will emit blue smoke and would be all the time and it smells like burnt oil. White smoke is def diesel it sounds like a injector or leak off pipe could be leaking onto te hot engine. Are your cars estate or signums or have auto gearboxes

maybe but white smoke could be condensation within venting system if it was opened up.

Possibly also have a look at turbo , make sure no oil leaks from there

No oil leaks At all car uses no oil or water and runs perfectly this happens once in a while and I do loads of motorway miles hard to see where it comes from because it clears quickly. Buy when it does this it's a lot of smoke. Ps it's an auto estate
