    Default 2nd Drain Hole?

Is there a drain hole on the driver's side in the engine bay, to accompany the one in front of the pollen filter on the passenger's side? I clean out the N/S one regularly, but every now and then, someone will reply to a blocked-drain-hole post on here with "Don't forget to do the driver's side as well"....

Yes there is mate, bit awkward this one but it's outlet is tucked in between suspension turret and brake fluid reservoir (if I remember right), I managed to open up a wire coat hanger and shaped it such that I could get it down through the scuttle mesh and down into the the drain hole or you could attack from it's other end where it comes out as mentioned above. HTH

I found the O/S drain hole - thanks Cruiser - it's directly behind the suspension turret, but after that not much luck. I pushed a coat hanger wire down there, but it only goes in about 6 or 7 inches, before hitting something solid. Does anyone know if the drain hole changes direction and goes diagonally after the first half foot of depth?

Have you tried just poring some warm water down there to see if it flows?

By shaping the coathanger again you could as awkward as it is! insert the hanger from the outlet end (I did this also) I know what you mean by it feeling like it hits something solid, I did notice this, but by wiggling the hanger and pushing at the same time it went through and also (as N hudson suggested) pour some water down there for verification that it is clear.

Sorted! I purchased a length of windscreen washer tubing from Halfords (£2.99 shelf price, £1.19 with my trade card, so well worth it) and pushed it into the hole. As it's flexible, it goes in easier than a wire hanger. After inserting a metre of it and wondering why I still couldn't see the end of the tubing hanging from the underside of the car, I noticed it sticking out still in the engine bay - the drain hole exited somewhere different from what I'd assumed. It wasn't blocked it seemed, but it's good to be sure.
