alternator gone after 18 months?!?

Hi guys had the car in the dealers yesterday due to lumpy idling and erratic revs. I was told the alternator in packing up, the car is only 18 months old. Does this sound like the right diagnosis? Thought they lasted a good few years.
Also the Tec noticed the passenger side fog had condensation in it, he told me that there was a modification to stop this and he would do it when it’s back next week for the alternator. Anybody herd anything of this mod he gonna do? He did say there SHOULD of been a recall.

I bought my Signum last week and have just noticed that one of the fog lights has condensation in it. Have a 3 month warranty from the garage. Is this worth getting fixed?

well the guy at vx told me that there is a mod they do to stop it, mine still under vx warrenty tho

The passenger side one steams up when the washer bottle is filled right up and ot leaks around the seal at the bottom of the filler neck.

There is a little snorkle that can be fitted that lets the light unit get some air and stops the problem. The other way is to only ever fill the bottle 3/4

The neck is removable to help change the passenger side lights.

There is a fix for fogging up foglights, Vauxhall do a snorkel kit for the fogs, I had it done on mine under warranty and it worked straight away, been nearly a year now and not one bit of condensation in the lights.
