    Default engine cuts out

    hi all
iv just bought a vectra 3.0 v6 auto diesel which has been running fine, but driving home last night the engine kept cutting out and i had to roll to the hard shoulder to re-start the car. when it cuts out all the electrics still work its just the engine.
i gave up with re-starting the car over and over again, so i phoned the RAC, they came out and plugged the laptop in but no faults were found. i then drove the car today to a garage and they couldnt find the problem. no warning lights come on but today the traction control light stays on when i was driveing the car but the engine still keeps cutting out. it seems to cut out when the car warms up.
iv checked the battery and all the fuses and there fine.

if anyone has had the same problem or nows what the problem may be im open to ideas
    thanks very much

Is it a clean cut off or a juddery one?

Recently my engine was cutting off as though i had turned the ignition off (no judder at all). The fault with mine was faulty crankshaft sensor

But tbh it should give back the fault codes for that :/

    mine was 0335

Im also having problems with my automatic transmission now though code 0700

    Well mine is a 3.2 v6 gsi

I took mine to a local garage and he charged me £35 for diagnostics, £31.20 for the sensor + VAT.

It came to £79 ish but he didnt charge me a hours labour for some reason so that would have knocked it up to around 120

It may be a job for vauxhall to look at though if it isn't bringing up a fault code. If it was the crank sensor you should have a code.

    ok brilliant cheers
one more thing, when your engine cuts out, would it be when the car was warm, and would you be able to start the car again and then would it do it again further up the road?
    thanks

    yes mate.

Id be able to drive for about say 10miles before it would cut out. It'd cut out clean and it wouldnt start straight away (id have to give it about a minute) but then it would start no problem and it'd do it agian a bit furthur up the street (for some reason though after the first cut out id be able to keep starting straight away, it was only the first that wouldn start straight away)

But as i said mate, mine gave fault codes. If your's isnt giving codes then i wouldnt advice just changing things without knowledge if its that at fault as your's may not be the same problem as mine was

Its worth a try to clean it and check the wires etc though id say
