Default 3.2 gsi filler cap mayonaise

hi went and bought the gsi today well impressed with it other than the filler cap and the tunnel bit which has white mayo type of liquid inside it how much "mayo" is normal on these cars and what are the first signs of problems caused due to this....very worrried at the moment when i checked the car at the owners place the mayo on filler cap wasnt too bad it was just on the car but when i got home and checked it it was on the tunnel bit aswel is this normal??

Its quite common to see a little bit due to condensation in the filler neck, some people remove the neck and don't have any mayo,hth..........

Not usually a problem if you remove the filler neck as per http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=101106.

I'd also change the oil and give the car a good thrashing - the GSi likes to be driven .

There is a abit of a "lug" on the filler neck you might need to lift it a little as it goes over a bolt.
Then you just twist the whole filler neck, as you would do with the filler cap. Yours mught be a bit tight if it has not been taken off before.
Take the filler cap off to see the dirrection you need to twist it. Then put the filler cap back on again, then remove them both. Replace the filler neck with the filler cap then.
Save the filler neck though, it might be usefull when you need to top it up with oil, might save spilling the oil every where.
