    Default 76000 miles its my turn! Car gutless, no power under 2k and wobbling like a baddun

    Last two days when engine started up cold.

    No power, no revs, no guts. Struggles up a hill, and is like an old escort diesel van without a turbo! Actually worse.

    EGR has been off, and I used Wynns EGR3 through the system and was running great.

    The swirl rod ends are fine, but do look a little coked and gummed up and around the base part circular dials that rotates on the inlet manifold itself.

    The EGR or the Inlet Manifold has failed. Get the spanner light come up under acceleration, but then clears as the turbo kicks in and the car then goes rapid in higher revs.

    Difficult to know, obviously Tech2 is your best bet. Could also be an injector issue. Assuming this is a CDTI you have, the 3rd injector wiring sometimes plays up causing very rough running. Could try cleaning the contacts. You might also be unlucky enough to have a shot injector, does happen

    Got a similar prob my self mate....rough idle and a kinda pinking/detonating noise when accelerating.Just fitted new inlet manifold and 4 injector plugs....no joy!!I dont have any fault codes or spanner light!!Im thinkin iv got a duff injector.

    hi mate,,, had this problem myself, cleaned out the egr as always the usual but ended up been the wiring on injector 3, try checking this out cause as hideous said this is also a quite common fault, fingers crossed.

    Its had the 3rd injector upgrade already.

    I'll get the boost valve out and take off the egr again tomorrow, soak it and see on refitting.

    EGR off, seperated, blasted and soaked in carburettor cleaner.

    Boost Valve cleaned.

    Lots of smoke came out of the back on rebuild and restart.

    On first drive here was power and the delivery under 2000 revs was a bit better and there was more go over the 2000 rev flat spot.

    The spanner light does NOT come on now, however, a NEW fault, the car has gone into limp home mode and the engine management light eml is on with no power-as if the turbo is not spooling up.

    Pleeeeeeaaase help...

    AA Out

    Fault code 2279-suggests EGR Valve or air intake issue

    Im thinking MAF or just needs me to buy a new EGR Valve.

    Thank god for Breakdown repair cover, booked in for Mon Morning

    Great how to!

    It was the SOLENOID!!!!! Stuck and needed drilling, tapping out and lubing.

    How one little pin affected the running of the whole car. Once again, anyone with EGR trouble or severe, seVERE loss of power under 2k as if the turbo isnt working and any spanner lights coming on, or eml light and fault code read is P2279 on obd.

    Im confident this is it! Drill out, tap out clean and lube the solenoid pin as here....job done!
