Morning all,
I'm replacing my v.squeeky Multi-V Belt tomorrow and just wondered if anyone had any tips on how i can make it as easy as poss. Is it worth taking the airbox off? Any special tools needed, etc?
Cheers.

Funnily enough mate I'm doing mine this weekend also for the same reason and looking at it I reckon you could do it without removing the airbox and attacking it from under the car, however I think I'm gonna remove airbox as I reckon that'll make it easier, looks a straight forward job (he says!!) i.e remove air box for easier access , remove side cover, de-tension the tensioner and slip belt off and new one on, at least i hope it's gonna be that easy!!

Cheers Pete, having a (quick) look at it last night i think thats how i'm going to do it, just wanted to be aware of any nasty little suprises before i make a start. Got the rear pads to do as well so dont want to waste any time really.
Good luck with yours mate!!
hi guys. you may want to check your belt tensioner they seem to play up and cause a squeal
cheers matey, i'm going to have a look whilst i'm messing about and see what its like, hoping the belt will sort it out, just to save me the pennies as much as anything!!

Check the length of the old and new belt which is printed on the outside. It's not uncommon for the wrong belt to be supplied.
How did you get on Terry? I tried to fit the belt this morning but gave up as I can't get any of my tools down to the tensioner (square hole) as there is just not enough space between tensioner and body, is there a special tool available to do this?
Cheers Pete
the one supplied to me (yet to fit it) is a 1030
As I said here mate, gave up on mine, just need to get a suitable tool that I can get into the the square peg hole on the tensioner and that will fit between the gap more importantly, if not I shall just bite the bullet and chuck it into Vx dealer near me and get them to do it, job is listed as 0.2 hrs so shouldn't cost much, to replace the tensioner itself is 1.2 hours so that is gonna cost, if |I get them to do it, have to be honest I'm fed up with doing things on this car and wasting time and getting knowhere does my head in. LOL
Cheers Pete
