    Default Decision made!

As some of you know, I was looking to change our Freelander 2 HSE in the summer, and looked at other cars as well as another new/nearly Freelander 2.

Well, we have decided to keep hold of our current Freelander until probably the back end of 2011. It has been fantastic and although I would like an Auto, I only drive ours probably once a week and it's not worth spending £10,000 to £15,000 on another car that will in effect look the same. Besides the Mrs likes it as a manual.

Regarding the Signum, I'll either keep it until the end of 2011 and run it up to 100,000 miles, or sell it and go back in the company car scheme with one of those low emmision BMW 3 series.

So.................................After a good talk with the Mrs, towards the end of the year/beginning of 2011 I hopefully will be buying one of these as a summer toy!

A Vauxhall Monaro CV8 - 353bhp 5.7 V8! For the extra money it would cost me to upgrade the Freelander 2 for a newer freelander 2, I will be able to buy the Monaro!

Cost me even less of I go back in the company car scheme and use the Signum money to buy the Monaro!

What do you reckon, good idea? Bad Idea? It's also fit in the garage as it's only 5" longer than the Signum!

Wouldn't you be able to afford a VXR8 mate...? I assume the Monaro would be quite an old model to help with the running costs...

It's not a case of not being able to afford a VXR8, and I know they are the better car but if I am going to have a toy, then I would prefer a Coupe.

I have been looking round now and there are quite a few with less than 20,000 miles on, and as they are anything upto 6 years old now, based on this average they won't have much more in 12 months time.

I may end up with a VXR version, don't really want the VXR as they are a bit in your face, where the facelift CV8 like the one above is more subtle. Problem is, there is only 54 facelift CV8's in the UK but 51 of them are still on the DVLA database!

VXR's are plentyfull but the CV8's appear to be owned by the more carefull drivers!

The Monaro is an amazing drivers car, but the styling is starting to look a bit dated now.

VXR8 for me any day if it were even vaguely within reach - looks much sharper, and even better to drive.

All depends on what I get model wise. I have just been looking at dimensions etc, would you beleive the Insignia is 2" longer than the Monaro and 1.5" wider than a Monaro.

The Insignia 2.0 diesel is also a little bit heavier than a Monaro
