Default Good Climate control to nothing.

    Sqweeky fan blower, then died.

Hi, I'm a brand new member but trust you guys to help my prob with my Mrs car. On the 05 plate signum elite I was driving when the fan blower was sqweeking, dry bearing sound and then the fan stopped all together. The sqweek had been showing on and off for last 4 months but yesterday it was very annoyingly loud that the radio was turned up to mask it. Then all of a sudden i notice the windsceen mist up and the blower had stopped. Before this the fan would blow at different rates on all 7 speeds. Any advise. Have checked fuses 4 under the bonnet and fuses 2 and 23 in the Cabin. As the car is climate control sould it have a 40 amp fuse not a 30. Any way I dont think this is the root cause. Yours Meanzie.

Smile Sorted the problem, for how long?

On looking a bit further have undone bits and learnt a bit more. I didn't known where the pollen filter was but a loose flat showed me where it was. Cleaned the filter and found it wet and evidence of tide marks. Then saw a pool of water below the filter and un blocked it and about a litre of water disappeared. Remove glove box and then dropped the fan blower out and found it a little tight, possibly due to the high humid air from the filter. Took the fan housing off and oiled both ends of the fan and put all back together and it works fine with no sqweeks! Looked at the clicky recirculation servo and it only clicks at the end of its travel on fresh air, no clicks on recirculation. Did not venture further, may be another day. 2 1/2hrs to do and a happy Mrs plus safer driving. Will inform how long the repair lasts but I strongly advise every one to check the pollen filter drain plugs as it could lead to loads of problems especially as the cabin fuse box is so near. Any one know where is the best place to find a replcement fan?
