Default do you do this after service?

veccy estate 150 cdti. I've been told to half fill deisel filter chamber with injector cleaner after changing the deisel filter, good idea or not, if it is what is the cleaner to use? would this effect dpf or the cat, wouldn't like to damage these! have 5 40 fully synthetic in the car at present, going to change that to 5 30, does 5 30 have to be changed every year? or can you let ecoflex tell you?

Also, have had a new egr and inlet manifold recently, don't ant to go there again, i have read a few post about blanking plates from fiat for the egr, good idea? i can see the advantages of this. Does the car run better? Wouldn't like any more spanner lights?

can i take it that this is safe on exhaust components? must smoke like hell! do you keep the revs up to stopp engine stalling? what cleaner, would redex do the job, seems to be the cheapest, i put millers in the tank at presents but wanted to give the injectors a good blast

Diesels will run on nearly anything (within reason) it will run just the same no smoke and no you dont have to rev it

Redex is fine, wait for others to comment though but i do this every time i changed my 2.0 Dti and i know a few others that do the same

Changing from 5w-40 to 5w-30 might save you a tiny bit of fuel, but that's all. Otherwise, no real difference, except the 5w-40 is better for your engine if you tend to give it a bit of welly.

If you do some stop/start or urban driving, change it every year. In which case you needn't bother with the long life fully synth stuff, which makes much more sense for motorway users.
