    Default Ashtray and cigarette socket

    Hi,

my rear ashtray is wedged shut. Is it easy to remove/fix? If so how?

Also the rear cigarette socket isn't working - any ideas?

    Regards

    Ben

Sounds an obvious question, but you have pushed down on the ashtray lid haven't you, it should then pop up.
Apologies if this isn't what you meant...don't wish to imply any denseness on anyones behalf.

Failing this, remove the gearstick chrome effect surround and lift up the gaiter, that's about as much access that you will get to the underside of the ashtray from the front without removing the centre armrest etc.

You could try pulling out the oddments tray above the ashtray to see if access from behind the ashtray is any better for you. (The odd ments tray is just push-clipped into place so just needs pulling out)

Hi Ben, Mine was like this when i first got the car, I gave it thump and it popped open, then i fitted it properly, its fine now!

That is my normal approach to stuff that breaks in the car - thump it, however, last night i was fitting my auto dim rear view mirror and couldnt get it to slide on, so gave it thump....

....have just got off the phone to autoglass

OP is asking about the REAR ashtray

Regarding the rear accessory socket, have you checked the relevant fuse in the boot fuse box?

    Ooops, yes so he is...
The trim panels on the rear ashtray / armrest assembly just unclip.
Use a plastic wedge, body filler spatular or plastic ruler to get between the plastic trims and the ashtray surround.
Don't use metal (such as a knife) as you can easily scratch the plastic panels.

    Everything is just clipped together.

Fuse number 17 in the rear fuse panel (left side of boot).
    Rated at 7.5 amps....brown fuse I think!!

And / Or Fuse 22 at the end of the dash - 30 amps

When you dismantle the rear section...if the socket is not connected up, then look for a connector with three wires, near the hand-brake.
Wire colours are , brown (earth), black (ign live) and grey/yellow (illumination)

Can you post a pic of the rear of the ashtray, I may have the bit you require but really hard to describe how it fits

I have the same issue with the rear ash tray the spring part is disconnected and it does not work. easy to open it though. Haven't checked if the plug works yet as I have not dreamt up a use for it yet
