Default Not another strut bearing thread...

Yep you guessed it. I went to Vauxhall on the way home from work and asked for 2 top strut bearings and they said that for the 'sports suspension' they only come as a whole unit not separately. I was sceptical and asking him to check again because I have information that says otherwise but they were adament that it's the whole unit.

Anybody know if this is true? Does an SRi strut top 'housing' and bearing differ from non SRi?

    Ahhhhh ****** Vauxhall...

you after the roller bearing which sits on top of the spring or the actual top plate with the 3 holes in which bolts to the turret? (that has a void bush in it)

    Just the roller bearing.

They said that it's all inside the top plate 'housing' thing and comes as a complete unit for the 'sports suspension'

Thats purely for the roller bearing, not specific to any particular model..... BUT the Support Bearing (ie top plate with void bush is dependant on chassis type)

    Cheers for that Plasma.

    Ha, you'll never guess what??

Had the guy ring me up from Vauxhall this evening (God only knows how he got my mobile number) and say that he's really sorry but I was right and I can buy the roller bearings separate and asked if I still want them

When I went to VX to get new bearings and strut tops, they said there was no difference between the sport chassis or normal anymore. There used to be too variants, but now just one for both. It came up with a note on his screen when he tried to select them. The bearings are £16.50ish each from VX at normal price.
