Do I whiff the scent of Dealer BS??

When I bought my car from a Vxl dealer on the South Coast (not picked up yet) I was asking about it's service history (done 25k) and stated I knew of problems with the EGR on 1.9 CDTI [150] and asked if it would have been cleaned on the major or on the Net Q 115 check.

He called head of servicing over and she stated that they don't check them as they are buried and almost impossible to remove.

Now I always thought these were near the top of the block and very EASY to remove. Am I wrong or did she apply some BS to her speech???

5 mins to remove. 2 x 13mm for the down pipe and 4 x 10mm for the valve itself...

whenever I go into the main dealers to ask a question, I always get them to go online and look here as I get confused real easily

They were selling you BS mate, probably because they don't have a clue what an EGR valve is why are these people working in the car industry if they don't know anything about them grrr...

Not only is it BS, but ask them what they'd say to a paying customer who phoned them and said "Can you give me a price for replacing the EGR valve?" - would they say "We don't do that job, it's buried too far down in the engine bay" ??

Hmmmm I thought as much. I was stunned but felt no right to argue as I don't really know alot about them and thought maybe a facelift or an auto may be different.

I mean, fancy getting BS from a Main Dealer....I mean what a thought!

I took mine off and cleaned it (cdti 150) and found it a doddle to remove, a 5 min job, and im about as good at mechanics as a bird!
