I think you get similar level of service from the big 3 (AA/RAC/GreenFlag) obviously there will be people with bad experiences of all of them. Best advice I can give is check out a cashback site such as quidco or greasypalm and see which company gives you best cashback and it can make it cheap! I was with RAC last year, this year I am with AA cause they were cheaper.

As above, i took out basic AA roadside assistance via Quidco.

The cost was £27. less £17 Quidco money = net cost £10. Result !!!

AA Breakdown and Breakdown "repair" cover!

    Mine had the alternator problem,

AA came out recovered me to a garage, then to repair the alternator under the package I paid £25 excess and the AA paid up the rest of the bill up to £500 costs.

Total cost to AA about £320 after my excess of £25. Didnt even require me to pay first, the repair garage invoiced the AA direct

DD costs about £17 or £19 altogether

note: there is small print on this car needs to be ,maintained by a vat reg mechanic and must be carried out per service schedule, i.e if you do mechanical things yourself you are not covered as the book will not be stamped up to date!

Normally if I want just simple breakdown cover, then I recommend Auto National Rescue
Once my AA Breakdown Repair policy expires, I will be going back to them
