Default When cars unlocked - Whats actually live?

Car died again yesterday... left lights on in past, and left boot open for good few hour last time it happened...

This time when playing with car i made sure everything was off, but the car was unlocked only, still managed to die...

Lock it up for a good few days with no use and it starts 1st time...

I'm going to get a higher powered battery anyway, but it would be good to find out the underlying problem too...

By way whats the biggest battery you can get for the vec? i had a tranny van one in the astra before but it was running lots of goodies - dont want to over power the vec...

Tadpole had a similar issue, and had a Vauxhall garage looking into why his battery kept going flat; then one of the technicians asked if he ever left it unlocked (yes), and said that when you lock it, the car goes to "sleep" much sooner than if left unlocked. So, it doesn't seem like a fault on your car, it's just the way it's engineered - leave it locked.

I'm having the same problem at the moment. If its not the alternator i'm even considering that it could be the starter.

I know, every other car i've had at least tries and you can see the power draining the interior lights or they go even duller over time...

The vec is like you can have power there but i'm not even going to attempt to start lol...

Yep, same as my GSi a month ago. Had been starting fine until one morning all I got was click, click, click. Jump stared the car and all was well. Checked voltage drops on battery and rightly or wrongly, I went and bought a new battery.

What a waste of time a new battery was. No further starting problems but having charged my old battery (as you do), it's been sitting in my garage and a month on is still holding it's charge .
