Hi Guys ps bide with me hare as i am not mechanically minded.
I have a 2.2 vectra which timing chain has snapped for the 2nd time. The engine had only done 44.000 miles when it first snapped but this was done for me due to Vx warranty so no money was spent. (no damage to valves/head) Now only 12000 later it has snapped yet again with no signs (out of the blue)I have tried to get Vx to do it free of charge but to no avail as this should not happen once, let alone twice! I am not sure of the damaged this has caused this time but car was on a roundabout at the time so must have only been doing 15-20mph max so fingers crossed. The RAC guy that towed me home did not even think it was the T chain that snapped as it apparantly still had compression...But another mechanic looked at it later on and told me that this was the problem and that there was no compression, and a few valves was bent (he did not look at the pistons) so not sure what happened there with RAC guy
If you can ps help, what i would like to know is. Would this job be possible for someone who is not mechanically minded, as i understand there are a few guides on forums/sites? Or if there is anyone out there who is willing to travel to essex to do it for me. Many thanks
