Rear "Check Light" coming on internitantly

Hi All,

My 05 Vectra Estate keeps telling me to check the rear light (get the bulb image on the dash and the warning in the centre console).

HOWEVER... there is nothing wrong with the bulb and the warning just comes on whenever it feels like it (lights don't even have to be on).

Any ideas - loose wire/connection?

Next time it's on have a real good look at the builbs, my old motor did this & it was a builb which had a slight loose element

Well I've looked at it in the dark when it's on and it looks like it's on albeit feintly... so maybe it is a ****e bulb. I need to get the lining off to have a butchers really, but want to get a new handle for the boot (see my other post) then will do it all in 1 hit so to speak.

I had the same thing happen with mine, 120ps 55 plate design estate, got the bulb out warning and sure enough,nearside sidelight on tailgate was out. So stripped the tailgate cover off, swapped bulb for a new one, still didnt work. Turns out it was dirt on the bulbholder contatcts, cleaned em up, bent them a little to improve contact to rear lamp, now fine.

same on mine brake light warning every so often, will check contacts.

i get bulb out warning constantly in mine along with brake pad warning(cos i forgot to replace the brake indicator thing) no bulbs out,the car just don`t like the white bulbs that are in the mainbeam dippedbeam side an fog lights

i had a similar prob on my merc - and it was loose number plate bulb!! i checked every bulb except that one.... give it a go

The bulb out warning light on the Vectra is appantly super sensitive..ie it can detect a bulb that has'nt blown ,but is about to.

Check the brake lights,if one bulb has gone it will substitute another one ,so it looks as if they are working.

When the bulb out light comes on again, put the car into reverse and see if its your reverse light.

****** hell... it's like a frigging Xmas tree then!!! LOL. I'll get the back off of it and see whats what. See drove it to Colchester this morning, lights on and no warning light - what a pain in the backside hey!
