where's the best place to buy a hid kit?

Be wary of Hids Direct mate, they either work, or don't - seem to be a few strobing/bulb errors reported on here recently.

I'd go for the cheaper HiDs with cancellers, you don't get what you pay for with HiDs.

The only thing I had to alter, were the original bulb holders, I cut through the side with a Dremel, you can buy split holders BUT they are expensive. Hids4us still say you CAN get a 30mm plug through a 20mm hole.

The kit I had from HIDs Direct came with everything needed - modified lamp retainers, warning cancellers... worked great for me. You can see how I went about it all here :
