    Default Condensation within the car

    Hi folks.

I assume that most, if not all of us suffer from condensation within the vehicle.

It does annoy me that the inside of the rear windscreen/hatch mists up within seconds of entering the car, no matter how many times the windows are cleaned.

A mate has said to me, and i don't know if this a load of old bull or an old wives tale..........

to put some sachets of Silica Gel on the rear parcel shelf

I know its worked for some folk on here with the headlights fogging etc.

Does anyone think this would work for inside the car ??

you could use an old bikers visor trick of fairy liquid or other anti-mist products. TBH they are not great tho but might prode some relief!

Yea, pollen filter is the usual suspect when that happens. Also if they are damp your windows will steam up like a Sauna

The (carbon) pollen filter was replaced by myself about 9mths / 10000miles ago.

TBH it's only really the rear windscreen that needs demisting. Just wondered if the Silica Gel would help or reduce the frequency of having to use the rear demister.

Update: I've located a couple of small (2cm) sachets of silica gel in work. i've chucked them onto the rear parcel shelf, and i'll let you know if there's any difference. PMSL !!!

also use the aircon to dehumidify the interior of the car
and do you have rubber mats??

if you do swap for carpet - as the rubber ones just allow the water to pool

Often used on small boats to keep condensation at bay http://www.mailspeedmarine.com/general-chandlery/mailspeed-marine/condensation-moisture-trap644379.bhtml.

From talking to boat owners, mixed opinions as to whether it works.

I also have this problem, and it's made worse by the fact my rear demister does sweet FA. Occasionally i'll need to sit and wait 10 mins for the front windcreen to clear before i can drive off. Is my pollen filter likely to be the cause?
