Default 225/40/19 tyres on my snowflakes ???

I just bought a set of 19" snowflakes. my question is if a put 40 profile tyres on would it be ok or would it knock the ratio out for the speedo ? i dont intend to lower the car so im not worried about it catching the archs.
thw current tyres on them alloys are 235/35/19, im looking at 235/40/19.

    cheers

    Dee

It will definitely put the speedo out mate because the circumference of the wheel will be greater. Dare I say it, it may also look a little silly not sure though...

ermm 2nd thoughts , i think i will stick with 235/35/19, just been looking at the prices of tyres and almost had a heart attack with the prices of 235/40/19.

They would make your speedo 2.4% too slow, so when your speedo says 60 your actually doing 61.4
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Thats not too bad as the 40 series would be a better ride....noticed the new astra has 235/40-19's and the sidewalls look a fair bit bigger than the 35's. When i come to renew my 19's thats what i'm going for

the price differance between the 35's and 40's is pretty steep.
