New Engine

Guys,

My car is an 2004 1.9cdti 150 and I have the following things wrong:

Inlet Manifold Rod on its way to coming off
DMF rattling like its trying to get out

Its also 10k from a new timing belt etc needed.....sooooo i'm wondering if it would be cheaper to replace the engine for a newer one i.e a 2007 engine.

Is this possible or are they different ecu's etc?

Or should I just get the work done on this one when it needs it?

I'd imagine a new engine will be about the same cost as your car is worth mate - if you know the rest of the car is sound then you're much better off repairing yours...

2007 may still have the inherent engine issues, repair yours then you know the history. It would be a real ball ache swapping units only to find in a few miles that one needed the same.

engine change is last option when big ends go or rings,i would repair yours at least you know its all done and dusted then
