Default How hard could it be?

Well that's what I thought when I started to to change my shocks and coils front and back...

Backs were a doodle. Shocks, control arms, springs... Simples.

Fronts, easy to get off... Easy to get the springs off. Changed anti roll bar bushes, drop links, no problems.

I got the new shocks together, thought I was doing really well, replaced the upper bearings, boots... But vx didn't have any new strut tops, so thought I'd just use my old ones.

Put the car together, looked great.

Then I reversed it out the garage, felt fine, thought I'd take it for a drive, then a horrible rattling noise started. Pulled onto the drive, the part inside the engine bay, the 3 bolts that hold the strut to the car had worked loose, I tried to tighten them up, but they just kept turning! Then, despite the fact it kept turning one of the bolts sheared off!

Talk about gutted, so I guess I'll have to order some new strut tops and do it all again next weekend! Grrrrrrr!

Anyone have any ideas what I could have done wrong? Other than not taking it to a professional garage lol.

I guess I must of cross threaded them, but i've done it to both sides! I can feel the top mounts moving inside the engine bay. Oh well, it's off to see a professional tomorrow. I got the shocks and springs from Eden vauxhall, so they should be the right parts.
