They don't usually go because of age (unlike the Z22) - mine's on 137k and doing fine - it's skimping on oil changes somewhere in the car's life that does it.

Im only comparing it to 1.9CDTI, because it's the most popular model in my country. Almost every Opel is with 1.9CDTI/110kw, yes, even with egr/dpf/swirl flaps/dmf's and stuff.
But thanks, that gives me more motivation to search for this exact engine model
As for chains, I know it's costly, but as far as I know to completely change the chain and all of it's bits, is around the same price as to replace DMF with Clutch (or am I wrong?) if that's true, then it's not that much of a problem, since If I would buy 1.9CDTI, I would for sure have to replace one or two DMF's in the lifespan of owning the vehicle.
Thanks for the help.
Yes, the chains on a Z20 and the DMF/clutch on a Z19 are roughly the same price.
My Z20Net motor just died (at 260000 km) because of chain tensioners and guides, the chain skipped and valves, lifters was broken. Guess the ticking noise wasen't to be ignored after all
Had a replacement engine fitted (83000 km) for 2500£ incl normal service. motor.jpg
Parts must be more expensive in Denmark; you can buy a new B207L engine here in the UK for £1500 and a B207R for £2000. A used one would be £400-700 depending on the condition and age.
Bought the motor in Sweeden for 1300£ barely stripped including turbo, manifolds, clutch and wirering. Wanted a engine not needing a new chain set rigth away. Labour isent cheap in Denmark, neither are cars we pay 180% in tax on new cars.
Just home from a 2500 km skitrip to Austria it runs perfect, no oil use and no ticking.
