    Default girl with no clue needs vectra help - be kind

    I have a 2004 Vectra CDTI SRI 150 77k miles, last serviced in August. Recently intermittantly he is having accelerration problems. Will happen some days then not the next. When I start car, basically have foot flat to the mat and car barely moves until around 2000rpm. Then operates fine. Basically he works when the turbo kicks in. No black smoke emitting or anything.

    Today its gotten bad...car just wouldnt power to 2000rpm, then electronic/transmission warning light (? is that what u call the car with spanner through it?) has come on and car went into safe mode and then wouldnt start. sat waiting on someone to tow me for about ten mins. restarted car, light was gone again, and I managed to drive up the hill for 2 miles to leave car at mechanics with no probs after reaching 2000rpm.

    Basically sitting here having a heart attack because Im due to start maternity leave and really dont need a huge mechanic bill. And will have to wait til monday to hear from mechanic.

    Worse case scenarios?

    Don't suppose it's a CDTi 150 is it?

    Sorry missed that - it sounds like inlet manifold & egr - common problem

    Yes, that's why I said sorry - I missed it & ammended the post

    If it is manifold & egr & you have the full job done including actuator it will probably cost over £800 - you may get some of the parts cheaper on ebay

    Vehicle : CDTI 150

    Trim : Design

    Engine : Z19DTH

    Year : 2005

    Default

    Would go for a new EGR first.
    Cost about £100 on EBay new.
    Its just 1 plug and 6 bolts can be changed in about 15 mins start to finish, only thing to watch for is not losing the seal at the bottom twhere it attaches to the pipe from the exhaust.

    Mines just developed the same fault and theres 2 faults on the tech2, Air loss from the intercooler and Swirl valve, i.e Inlet manifold.

    Manifold = £190 + vat
    Intercooler = £150 + vat
    about 4 hours work (free to me)

    Vx dealer also said the actuator that controls Swirl valve 3 is normally at fault thats another £150 + vat

    All in.... close to a grand.

    Vehicle : vectra-c

    Trim : sri

    Engine : cdti

    Year : 2004

    Mileage : 98,000

    Don't panic, i would go for cleaning the egr valve first !, Also you NEED to make sure the hole in the inlet manifold where the egr bolts on is cleaned out!, while your at it get the boost sensor cleaned also. I have posted a pic of the egr (its the valve with the big black elec solenoid), also the boost sensor (that's on the left of the pic, with the yellow tab on the connector). these parts are the same looking on your engine but shown here on the cdti 120 bhp engine. (The egr on the 150 actually bolts onto the manifold in the sme place but has a connecting chamber into the inlet manifold).
