Default What moniters flow on the CDTi EGR?

Is it just a calculation from the MAF (less air as the EGR opens) or does it have its own sensor and if so what type and where?

It will be highly unlikely to have a dedicated flow sensor in the EGR. There is probably a position feedback sensor that probably isn't very accurate. MAF reduction would probably be there too.

Difficult to say, as there are a few possibilities, but no definites unless you know how the programming has been done.... and I am sure that the calibration Engineers won't be easy to contact....

Cheers for the reply Ste, It was actually a post by you last year that mentioned The MAF may in some way monitor EGR flow. The reason I ask is all this EGR and Manifold faults that come with the CDTi. On the Petrol 2.2 you can just blank but keep the EGR in the loom as the only monitoring is that the valve is open or shut. So it got me thinking, its been mentioned that the CDTi EGR is monitored via flow, if you could return the EGR gases into the exhaust instead of the inlet this would help solve a problem, you will still get the flow so should stop any limp mode.

    Default

On the 3.0 if its blanked completly then it goes into limp home mode due to lack of flow, so it must be measured somewhere
Now I need a turbo to keep up!
